Retirement of a Friend

Working hard, the joy and pain

Life sometimes is such a strain

Going here, going there

Doing my best, losing hair

In my 50’s, still full of life

Working now is full of strife

Early retirement, now very soon

To do what I like, will be a boon

Tending my garden, riding my bike

Playing golf, going on a hike

The future looks great, I must admit

I will not be one, only to sit

Out and about, I intend to be

The time of my life, but not a spree

Young at heart, I intend to stay

Still taking life seriously, even at play

look to the future, my eyes shining bright

Knowing that life will be a delight

All the long hours, the hard work I have done

Well worth the wait for what is to come
